Bicycle user manual

PROPER USE

Before you start using the bicycle, carefully read the bicycle user manual and make sure:

whether the bicycle’s assembly and adjustment comply with the manual’s requirements;
whether the saddle and handlebar are adjusted to your height and securely fixed;
whether the gear shifting and braking systems work well;
whether the tires are not damaged and the pressure matches the value indicated on the tire sidewall;
whether all bolts and quick-release mechanisms are tightly fastened;
whether you are familiar with all traffic safety requirements.

The manufacturer is not responsible if the bicycle is not used correctly.

We strongly recommend that assembly, adjustment, or other work requiring technical or specific qualifications be carried out at specialized bicycle service centers/shops.

IMPORTANT! If you follow all the requirements mentioned in the manual, we guarantee that the bicycle will operate reliably and provide safe transportation for you!

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

The bicycle must be equipped with a white reflector or white light at the front and a red reflector or red light at the rear. This will ensure your safety on the road during hours of darkness.
Check the condition of the tires before each ride. The permissible tire pressure is indicated on the outside of the tire. Do not exceed it and do not ride with too low pressure!
By correctly adjusting the saddle post and handlebar stem height, when sitting on the bicycle your leg should be fully extended, touching the ground only with your toes. Or, when placing your heel on the pedal in its lowest position, your leg should be slightly bent.
Check that the saddle post and handlebar stem height are adjusted correctly. Remember, they must not be extended above the indicated mark.
If the bicycle is equipped with a suspension fork or a rear shock, check their suspension movement and mounting bolts before each ride.
Familiarize yourself with the brake construction and operating principle.
The bicycle is intended to be ridden by only one person at a time. The manufacturer is not responsible for the consequences if more than one person rides the bicycle simultaneously. The manufacturer is also not responsible if the bicycle is overloaded, or if the carried load is not adequately secured.
Before riding, carefully check the fork and frame and make sure there are no cracks or bends.

HANDLEBAR AND SADDLE

It is important to adjust the handlebar and saddle position so that your body weight is evenly distributed between them. This will allow you to ride comfortably and breathe easily.

Regularly check that the handlebar bolts are secured. Do not use the bicycle if any bolt is damaged or missing.

IMPORTANT! Do not extend the handlebar stem or saddle post above the indicated mark.

PEDALS

They must rotate freely, so the pedal axles must be correctly threaded in and well tightened.

If the pedals do not rotate freely, the internal bearings may be worn. It is recommended to replace them with new ones.

IMPORTANT! Incorrectly threaded or insufficiently tightened pedals can damage the crank threads and can also unthread themselves, making the bicycle unfit for further use and potentially causing injury to the rider or others.

REMEMBER! Left and right sides are designated with respect to the bicycle’s direction of travel!

CHAIN

For bicycles with internal-gear hubs, check chain tension with a finger by lifting the lower run of the chain. The total slack should be approximately 2.5 cm.

For bicycles with external gears, the derailleur maintains chain tension, but the chain must not be too long when it is not under tension.

For bicycles with internal-gear hubs and belt drives, adjustment must be performed only and exclusively at specialized service centers.

ATTENTION! The chain wears out, so it must be replaced periodically. With proper bicycle maintenance, it is recommended to replace the chain every 1,000–2,000 km. If the chain is not replaced, the rear sprocket set (cassette) or rear sprocket, as well as the front chainring set, will wear out faster!

IMPORTANT! Do not allow dirt to accumulate on the chain! Clean and lubricate the chain regularly. The chain can be cleaned with special cleaning agents.

After cleaning the chain, lubricate it and then wipe off excess oil with a cloth.

RIMS, SPOKES AND HUBS

Constantly check the condition of the rims, and if you notice deformation or cracks, replace them immediately.

Regularly check spoke tension.
Broken spokes must be replaced. You risk injury!

IMPORTANT! Only a bicycle mechanic can correctly true a wheel, lace it, and properly tension the spokes.

TIRES

Properly inflated tires make the bicycle roll more easily and extend their service life.

Inflate the tires only to the permissible pressure indicated on the tire sidewall.
Do not ride with underinflated tires. This makes riding more difficult and shortens tire life.

ATTENTION! Replace worn tires in good time; this will ensure your safety on the road.

BOTTOM BRACKET AND CRANKS

Your bicycle may be equipped with a compact cartridge bottom bracket (“monoblock”) or a crank spindle with a loose ball-bearing assembly (serviceable).

IMPORTANT! The monoblock is one of the most important bicycle assemblies. During use, the monoblock must be regularly checked for play or looseness; if necessary, it must be tightened. If faults are detected too late, not only the monoblock axle but also the frame can be damaged!

If play or looseness occurs, go to a specialized bicycle repair workshop to have it properly tightened or repaired/replaced.

ATTENTION! The crank fixing bolt must be well tightened. Check it regularly; if any play appears, it must be tightened without delay.

BRAKES

Good and reliable brakes are your guarantee of safety on the road!

To ensure your bicycle’s safety and effective brake performance, we recommend observing the following requirements:

Before each ride, check that all brake mounting bolts are tightened;
Check the brake levers—they must be properly attached and easy to press;
Check the brake discs/rotors to ensure they are not rubbing against the brake pads.

ATTENTION! The right brake lever is connected to the rear brake, and the left—to the front brake. For sudden braking, use the front and rear brakes simultaneously. Do not brake with the front brake only.

IMPORTANT! Be especially careful when stopping the bicycle on wet or slippery roads! The braking distance becomes longer, so take this into account to stop safely.

BICYCLE GEARS

Bicycle gears are used to maintain a constant force applied to the pedals and to keep your legs moving at a steady cadence, regardless of whether you are riding uphill or downhill, with or against the wind.

INTERNAL GEARS

This is a complex mechanical mechanism integrated into the rear wheel hub which shifts gears when the gear shifter is turned. In this way, pedaling intensity, speed, and power are changed. The most common gear hubs have 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, and 14 gears. A bicycle may also have only 1 gear in the rear hub.

EXTERNAL GEARS

This is a mechanical system consisting of a set of 6–12 sprockets at the rear and 1–3 chainrings at the front. The shifters change gears accordingly: the right lever controls the rear, and the left controls the front. Shifts must be smooth and precise; inaccurate shifting can damage the gear mechanisms. If you suspect imprecise shifting, contact a specialized service center.

ATTENTION!

For bicycles with internal gears, it is advisable to shift during moments of freewheel (when you are not pedaling!).
For bicycles with external gears, it is advisable to shift while pedaling (when you are pedaling!).

BICYCLE MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE

The bicycle will serve long and reliably if you follow the bicycle maintenance requirements:

wash the bicycle regularly with water and specialized cleaning agents;
pay special attention to the maintenance of the hubs, front and rear sprocket sets, brakes, and chain;
after washing, the bicycle must be wiped dry;
we recommend using special waxes that absorb moisture and protect against corrosion. Use waxes according to the manufacturers’ recommendations. Consult specialists when choosing products;
lubricate the chain with oils and lubricants intended for it.
do not use large amounts of water to wash the bicycle!

IMPORTANT! Do not clean the rims with solvents; make sure oil or lubricant does not get on the brake discs—if it does, they will become unfit for use.

The following bicycle storage rules must be observed:

We recommend lubricating bicycle parts during the winter season to preserve them.
During storage, bicycle tires must be fully inflated.
Store the bicycle indoors at a constant temperature. Large fluctuations in temperature and humidity negatively affect some metal parts. The recommended storage temperature is from 0 to 20 degrees Celsius.
The storage room must be dry; there must be no moisture.

TECHNICAL MAINTENANCE OF THE BICYCLE

FEATURES OF A NEW BICYCLE. After riding the first kilometers on a new bicycle, nuts, bolts, and cables may loosen. It may be necessary to readjust the gears or brakes if the cables have stretched. We recommend visiting any specialized bicycle service to have the entire bicycle inspected and, if necessary, adjusted. For example, make sure that:

the brakes are well adjusted;
the bolts tightening the saddle and its post are securely tightened;
the bolts tightening the handlebar and its stem are securely tightened;
the pedals and crank arms are securely screwed on;
the gears are precisely adjusted.

A technical inspection should ensure the bicycle’s mechanical safety and help avoid potential defects.

You can perform a simple inspection yourself:

Check that no oil residue has ended up on the tires, brake pads, or brake discs after lubrication.
Check the rear derailleur guide pulley. It must rotate freely and quietly. Lubricate if necessary.
Check the chain. If rust has appeared or dirt has accumulated on it, clean it and lubricate with a light oil.
Check that the bottom bracket spindle, front and rear hubs rotate freely and quietly, and that the pedals do not catch.
Check the movement of the front suspension fork. If you hear squeaking, wipe the working part of the fork with a clean cloth, then apply a few drops of oil to it.

ATTENTION!

To ensure quality operation of rotating parts, check them every 3 months or every 150 kilometers ridden, and lubricate if necessary.

IMPORTANT! Like all mechanical parts, a bicycle can wear out. The use of different materials and components, as well as fatigue, can affect them differently. When a component reaches the end of its service life, it can be damaged or break, posing a risk to the rider’s health. Any cracks, scratches, or color changes in high-stress areas indicate that the component’s service life has ended and it must be replaced.

Have the bicycle’s technical inspection carried out at a bicycle repair workshop. Only a qualified specialist can properly perform this work.

TOOLS AND SPARE PARTS ON THE ROAD

During a ride, we recommend taking the following spare parts and tools with you:

a pump;
a spare inner tube;
tire levers;
tools intended for loosening essential bolts — a set of hex keys.

CARRYING CARGO

When transporting cargo, riding conditions change, so some requirements must be observed:

Secure the load well and pay attention to the permissible rack load.
You can attach cargo both at the rear and at the front. It is important that your bicycle remains stable and easy to control on the road.
