The frame is sturdy and has geometry similar to a mountain bike, but forms a more upright sitting position than a mountain bike, with less strain on the hands and better visibility. This frame is for longer trips, and is often designed for fitting various accessories like mudguards and racks.
As a material, aluminium is the most common. It is lighter than steel and stronger than carbon fibre. Aluminium is used in the manufacture of various types of bicycles. Has the best value for money.
The wheels are strong and suitable for various terrains; they are designed to fit wide tyres. An ideal choice if you like to ride on both asphalt and forest trails. 28” wheels are also suitable for longer trips.
Front suspension has a shock-absorbing suspension fork for comfort, better grip when riding on different terrains or around obstacles, and safer descent.
The tyres are selected from a variety of widths and patterns according to how the bike will be used. Tyre lightness and durability are often taken into account. Rougher tyres let you drive on a wider range of surfaces.
The chain is partially hidden under the chain guard, or protection is placed on the frame to prevent scratches. It is usually left fairly exposed for easier access when replacement is needed.
Plastic mudguards are often used to keep the overall weight of the bike to a minimum and to accommodate an additional pannier rack.
The saddle is narrower and harder (compared to city bikes) for a sportier sitting position.
V-brakes are easy to replace, light and inexpensive, and by choosing brake pads according to the conditions they’ll be used in, you can get high efficiency.
